Don’t Scare Exams, it tests your knowledge. Really?

This blog might be an offensive one for exam lovers (1-2% people of the world). Well I’m not here to criticize examinations, but the system. Exams in ancient time were conducted just to test the knowledge of students, if they had acquired the teachings taught by their teachers (Guru). But in the present world, situation is very different. Exams are still there, but the reason of its existence has less percentage of the reason to test knowledge but more percentage of judging/choosing careers.

“Board Exams are the most important exams of your life, so study hard.” This line is the most repeated line by teachers, relatives and parents. By this line what they actually mean is study how to earn marks for your subjects. Now studying to get knowledge and studying to get marks are both very different thing. To this many people would react that if you study hard, you are going to earn marks anyway. This statement was very true some generations back, but not now.

Everyone knows how professionally cheating was done in Bihar last year in Board Exams (Yes this picture is of Bihar). Not just in Bihar, but every student now days is a professional in cheating answers (Trust me on that). People who have given board practical know how easy it is to earn marks. You get marks because you arrived for the practical (yes that easy). Now a further comment on this would be offensive for some teachers because not every teacher do so (but at some extent it is true, I have experienced it).

Now days many of you will hear, that ‘10th standard exams are very important, its result will help you to choose your career’, at some extent it is true, you get your line, but choosing careers with those marks, hell NO, until and unless you get 9 or more CGPA. Now 2 minutes of silence for all those students who got 9+ CGPA and were forced to take science by their relatives (because if you don’t take science after getting 9 or more CGPA then you have wasted your life, according to them) against their will and they did so under pressure.

In 10th if you get 6-7 CGPA then sorry, you cannot take commerce. Just because you got low marks in Social Science, Science and Languages (which leads to a fall in your total percentage), you cannot take commerce. Subjects which have no relation with subjects you are interested in, help you to choose your line. WOW (great system, isn’t).

Now let’s talks about 12th board exams, if you get 90% or more in your boards, then Congratulations, you made to the Delhi University club (India’s one of the most demanded university). In our society if you get 90+ % in your Board exams then you are a grace to this world. But if you get 60-70% in your Boards, then you are a disgrace to this world, no matter how much talent you carry because in the end your percentage describes you.

Well there comes the Quota System. Now some people genuinely belong to backward areas, but most of them are fake. Never get surprise if you see any person roaming in Audi or BMW (basically if he is rich) and carries a Schedule Caste quota. It’s very normal now. The best part is no one cares ‘How’.

Now 2 minutes of laugh (yes laugh) for all those who takes school exams damn too seriously. These exams would never matter to you in your future. I don’t mean stop studying for it, but as I said before, study for knowledge not for marks. Now I won’t get diplomat and say ‘study for knowledge, marks will get by you’. NO. This is not applicable everywhere. You need to have good writing skills and should know how to express yourself. If you can’t do this then you are a dumb creature according to everyone around you, no matter how knowledgeable you are. Better don’t listen to anyone, shut everyone with your success.

My special pleads to all parents and teachers, don’t teach the students how to earn marks rather focus on their skill development and knowledge. Your pressure on students makes them low confident. If you still think it’s better to force and get marks, then never complain about increasing suicide done by students.

Pro Tip: Never be friends with people who cry like a baby for even a half mark too. For me they are the actual dumb creatures of earth.

PS: All my teachers never forced me to earn marks, they helped me to gain knowledge. I am lucky to have the best teacher with me. “Because some teachers are actually teachers” (if you get this), including my mother too (my mother is my teacher of life and yes teaching is her profession too.)
